Old Friends and New

This past Sunday was another day full of fall celebration. Mike, Caroline, and I walked down to the art festival in our town's historic district Sunday afternoon where Caroline made all kinds of new friends...including this fellow. She seems to love dogs and is always excited to meet a new furry friend. But, even more than the canine pal, she loved the man at the WSB radio booth who gave her the best thing the festival had to offer her: She spent the rest of the day tucked under Dad's arm and holding on tight to her new ball...

That evening we had an old fashioned church potluck. Being with so many of our friends at the same time and watching all of our children play together reminded me how grateful I am for our church family. I love watching Caroline begin to interact with these kids that she will likely grow up with and that may become some of her lifelong friends.

(Note the toy in Caroline's lap. It looks a whole lot like her beloved Freddie the Firefly that Aunt Heather gave her, but it is actually Colter's Freddie the Firefly. Caroline had just reached over and yanked it out of his hand when he pulled it right back. Leslie and I watched the whole thing, but were too curious about what would happen to intervene. When it looked like we might see tears, Leslie appeased Colter with one of Caroline's toys, and Caroline ended up with the firefly. As soon as she learns English, we'll talk to her about sharing!)

And, after all the activity, Caroline decided to finish out the day by running a hot bath before bed.
